On 22nd November, 2022, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the president of the Macedonian-American alumni association (MAAA), Ms. Verica Jordanova, and the rector of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje, Prof. Dr. Nikola Jankuloski, in the Rectorate of the University. Its main objective is to open the door for many future mutual projects, and exchange of expertise, information and cooperation in the areas of education, culture, art and many other aspects important to both parties. The signing of this memorandum affirms MAAA’s dedication to strengthen the relationship and cooperation with the higher educational institutions of North Macedonia.
Mr. Gazmend Ilazi (Exchange and Alumni Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje), Dr. Zorica Trajkova Strezovska (Vice-president of MAAA) and the vice-rectors Dr. Valentina Gečevska (Vice-rector for science), Dr. Ordan Čukaliev (Vice-rector for international cooperation), Dr. Biljana Angelova (Vice-rector for finance, investment and development), Ms. Marija Cenevska (Head of the International Relations Office) were also present at the event and discussed the possibilities and options this memorandum opens for future cooperation between the university, MAAA and the American Embassy.
They emphasized the significance of exchanging up-to-date information, organizing regular meetings and proposing mutual projects and activities. One of the main priorities which was highlighted was the participation of the academic personnel in the US exchange programs of the American Embassy and the United States Government.
They also discussed the current project of MAAA, Alumni encouraging community services and extracurricular activities, in which four state universities, among which Ss. Cyril and Methodius University will take part by engaging their students, the youth in various community service and extracurricular activities and thus contribute to their better involvement in the society. We are confident that this project would just be the beginning of a very fruitful collaboration.
