During the weekend, 25-26th March, 2023, as part of the project Alumni encouraging volunteering and extracurricular activities, a group of students from the “Goce Delčev'' University in Štip, took part as volunteers in the camping event “Welcome to the jungle”, organized by the Scout camp Equinox, Štip.

Under the moto “A weekend in nature is worth five days in school”,  for just an insignificant fee of 300 denars (to cover for their meals, tents and all necessary equipment), the Scout club Equinox from Štip summoned all interested children from the region, older than 9, to join them for a fun weekend of camping. The aim of the event was to raise the awareness of the children about people’s connection with nature, through implementing scouting methods and principles. For better protection the tents were set inside the Primary school “Dimitar Vlahov'' in Štip.

By the end of the event the children were better equipped with knowledge on how to manage in nature, how to be better leaders and also develop their team spirit. They were taught various skills, such as: building a shelter in nature with the use of ropes and wood, starting a fire, types of fireplaces, knot tying and many others.  Besides the activities done within the workshops, the children were entertained by a DJ and they also watched a film together.
