Katerina Veljanovska Blaževska
From October 12 to 15, 2023, Professor Katerina Veljanovska Blaževska, an alumni scholar of the Study of the U.S. Institute on U.S. Foreign Policy, took part in the fully sponsored Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) Workshop on “International Perspectives of American Society”, supported by the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The workshop, held at Villa La Pietra in Florence, Italy, was organized by New York University, encompassing both its New York City and Florence campuses.
This nominated group of 46 participants represented different generations from SUSIs at the University of Delaware, the University of Montana, New York University, and the State University of Arizona. Hailing from various countries, including North Macedonia, Thailand, Brazil, Zambia, Madagascar, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Nigeria, Mexico, Portugal, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Chile, Egypt, Argentina, West Bank, Palestine, and others, the participants brought diverse global and regional perspectives.
Katerina had the privilege of being one of the panelists in the session titled "Russia, NATO, Ukraine, and US Involvement." The workshop delved into crucial topics relevant to future global challenges, such as the future of higher education, narratives of journalistic identity, technology and democracy, misinformation, culture and diplomacy, immigration and religion, as well as the future of work and youth citizenship.
