At MAAA’s General Assembly held at the premises of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje on November 13th, 2023, MAAA members elected a new President and members of the Executive and Supervisory Board. A call for all positions was open on which every member had the right to apply. At the beginning of the Assembly Ms. Verica Jordanova, in her capacity as president in leaving, addressed the Assembly participants. After that the 65 present members of MAAA casted their votes for President, Executive and Supervisory Board members. The electoral process was conducted in a positive and democratic atmosphere.
By majority vote, Zorica Trajkova Strezovska was elected as the new President of MAAA. The newly elected members of the Executive Board are: Ognen Janeski (Vice-president), Irena Popovska (Secretary General), Rozita Petrinska Labudović (Organisational Secretary) and Sefer Selimi (Treasurer). Berat Dehari, Biljana Sanev and Pranvera Kasami were elected as members of the Supervisory Board.
Zorica Trajkova Strezovska is a Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) fellow. She works as a full professor at the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology "Blaže Koneski", Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. She used to be an editor of MAAA’s newsletter, and a member of the Executive Board and a Vice president of MAAA for two mandates.
Ognen Janeski is an award-winning journalist and editor. He is the only Macedonian journalist (since 1981) who was selected by the General Secretariat of Ban Ki-moon for the prestigious two-month "Reham al-Farra Memorial Journalist Scholarship Program 2016" at the UN headquarters in New York, USA. He participated in the TV Co-op (Television Cooperatives) program.
Irena Popovska currently works as a Secretary General at the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption. Her professional expertise is focused on democracy and the rule of law and EU policies. She is an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) fellow.
Rozita Petrinska Labudović is a founder of the Association for Promotion of Education, Culture, and Sport “Education for All” Skopje. She is a Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) fellow.
Sefer Selimi is a Community Solution Program fellow. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Democracy Lab, a CSO driven to create a democracy that will work for everyone.
The new leadership is committed towards strengthening the ties between Macedonia and the United States.
