Inspire & Engage fest: Alumni Impact through Volunteering and Extracurriculars

The grand finale of the "Alumni Encouraging Volunteering and Extracurriculars Activities" project, took place on June 18th at Skopje City Park - Park of the Francophonie, in collaboration with the Scout Association of Macedonia and the Municipality of Centar, Skopje. The alumni and their children, partners, or friends, were welcome to join the event, which offered a variety of volunteering and fun, collaborative outdoor activities like painting and flower planting, Jenga, archery, stationary biking, slacklining, volleyball, and more, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with great music and delicious burgers.

The aim with this event was to involve young people in volunteering and extracurricular activities, which would inspire them to develop empathy, a sense of social and collective responsibility, talents, communication and leadership skills.

During the event, MAAA’s president Ms. Zorica Trajkova Strezovska addressed the attendees, summing up the project activities MAAA accomplished with the youth.

As part of this project, MAAA organized over 30 volunteer activities and established more than 10 clubs across the four state universities. These included the Journalism and Sustainable Living Club in UKLO, Bitola, which MAAA supported with resources like dices for the Uklo-Eco, Uklo-Velo game, a bicycle and a treadmill; the Film, Debate and Theater club, as well as Journalism Club at UKIM, which were provided with a computer, printer, and comfortable lazy bags; a Literature Club at the University of Tetovo, which received books and other resources. The president also extended MAAA’s heartfelt gratitude to the four state universities, which were MAAA’s partners in the project, as well as to their rectors, deans, professors, students, and all MAAA members. Special thanks were also extended to the U.S. Embassy in Skopje for their ongoing and invaluable support. Following her speech, the attendees were greeted by the Embassy’s Deputy Public Affairs officer Ms. Augusta Philbin, who expressed the Embassy’s satisfaction with the project and all MAAA achievements.

Finally, the mayor of the Municipality of Centar - Skopje, Mr. Goran Gerasimovski, who is also a member of MAAA, expressed his pleasure that the Municipality of Centar was able to participate in organizing the project’s final event in Skopje.

This project has been completed successfully, and MAAA is proud of the impact it has created. We look forward to implementing more projects like this in the future.
