The COVID-19 outbreak affected all segments of life and its devastating power was particularly detrimental to members of the most vulnerable social groups, badly affecting specific populations, like people living in poverty, older persons, persons with disabilities, and the youth.

In April 2021 the organization I am working in - LAG AGRO LIDER launched the local Meals on Wheels program. In collaboration with Inter-municipal Center for social work and the Public cuisine in Prilep, every day from Monday to Friday (except on state holidays) LAG Agro Lider’ team delivers free meals to the disadvantaged elderly, families and children who live in Prilep.

We deliver meals by E-bikes, because they have shown to be an effective and environment-friendly transport solution.  Our local Meals on Wheels program has played a crucial role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the people in need. This community service Meals on wheels is so much more than simple delivery of a hot meal. It’s a daily check-in on the welfare of our beneficiaries, and for us it’s a connection to the community.
